We are a licensed home-based baking business located in the snowy White Mountains of New Hampshire. My name is Sarah Lamoureux, the owner and head baker. I am also a wife, a mother of two girls and their teacher. I love that the trajectory of my working life took a hard right turn after having my 1st baby, leading me away from corporate life and back into the creative world I had originally wanted to be in. I have a BA in Fine Arts and now have the pleasure of creating art that is as delicious as it is beautiful.
I have always loved to cook and bake, almost as much as I loved to paint so running Painting With Sugar is the perfect union of two passions. My third passion is academia, and that is why in addition to running this business from home, I also teach my two children at home. When I first started Painting With Sugar in 2017, just after my oldest's 1st birthday, it went by a different name and I only had one thing on my menu; French macarons. I started this venture of mine by sharing my love of macarons with our local community through our Farmer’s Market. Shortly after I teamed up with a bakery and a locavore retail shop on our Main Street and began offering shipping nationwide! All of that worked out so well, but with the birth of my second child I started to look for more creative freedom and more flexibility with my time. From there we have expanded our menu to include custom cakes, decorated cookies, cupcakes, etc... and of course the pretty little macaron is still a staple. I have shifted completely to custom ordering and while we no longer have a "brick and mortar" presence on Main Street, we stay connected to the community, sourcing all of our special ingredients locally whenever possible. I have a special place in my heart for wedding clients and absolutely love bringing each couple's unique vision to life through their dessert table. We are a very small business, which allows me to offer each of my clients a one-on-one experience and pull out all the stops artistically to bring any dream you can imagine to life.
